16th Annual NSWCDD Industry Day was a Success

Dahlgren, VA (May 30, 2007) – For sixteen consecutive years, the NSWCDD Industry Day and Small Business Opportunities Fair has been an engaging and relevant event for both the Naval Community and Industry.
The event represents the longest-running, single activity Small Business event sponsored by the Navy.
This year, with more than 390 attendees and 62 exhibitors, the Annual NSWCDD Industry Day and Small Business Opportunities Fair sustained the tradition of a significant event for the Naval Community.
Captain Sheila Patterson, Commander, NSWCDD, commended attendees for taking the time to participate in the event. “Effective communication is a vital part of any healthy organization, and now, more than ever, we need to foster good communications across our armed services.”
The engaging keynote address, given by Mr. William P. Bray, Major Program Manager for Integrated Combat Systems, focused on IWS Open Architecture initiatives, priorities and areas of focus relative to combat systems development and enterprise processes.
Following the keynote address, Mr. Stuart A. Koch, Technical Operations Manager, discussed the changes that were made within the NSWCDD organization. The afternoon continued with breakout sessions on Naval Open Architecture and PEO IWS Technology Processes as well as SeaPort-e Updates.
Every year the event is produced and promoted by National Conference Services, Inc. (NCSI). As the lead person on the 2007 project, Mr. Frank Hazzard, had many praises for this year’s event. “We were pleased with the number and variety of industries that were represented at this year’s fair.
The feedback we received said that our topics, SeaPort-e and Naval Open Architecture were of great interest to the majority of participants.”
NCSI is looking forward to working with NSWCDD to continue this valuable tradition for many years to come.
