The conference provided a mix of strategic, operational, and tactical DCGS perspectives focused on improving the contribution of DCGS in supporting overseas contingency operations. One of the highlights of the conference was a panel on coalition operating environments, which included personnel from US, Norway, Italy, Australia, and NATO to discuss issues related to information sharing across the Afghanistan mission network.

The conference also served to reinforce the idea of a DCGS "Community of Interest" -- participants were reminded of the significant improvements in integration and interoperability between the six DCGS Family of Systems; and were challenged to ensure improvements are carried over into command and control capabilities as well.

Moreover, the audience was encouraged to focus on sharing information among multi-national networks, to address the continued need for cross-security domain capabilities, to expedite the certification and accreditation process for information systems, and make the acquisition process more agile.

Attendees were given time to visit an exhibit hall featuring over 100 different companies. Opportunities to network were available during the breaks and lunch, as well as at the All-Hands Networking Social on Tuesday evening sponsored by Northrop Grumman. In addition to good music and the chance to catch up with colleagues, the All-Hands Networking Social featured a cake made by Charm City Cakes. Charm City Cakes is featured on the TV show “Ace of Cakes” on the Food Network.
